Italian Film Festival Featuring "The Girl From Tomorrow" at Angelico Hall, Dominican University

Presented by Lido Cantarutti, the Italian Film Festival started out as an informal one-time only presentation of Italian movies in a college lecture hall. Now celebrating 46 years, the Italian Film Festival of Marin County is on Saturdays from September 28 - November 2, 2024. Mr. Cantarutti has presnted appearances from Italian film directors and composers, dignitaries of the Italian and Italian-American communities, and an authentically Italian atmosphere at every presentation.
All films are in Italian or original language with subtitles in English. All films are suggested for mature audiences.
"The Girl from Tomorrow" ("PRIMADONNA") is a 2022 drama in color and lasts 102 minutes.
Directed by Marta Savina, with Claudia Gusmano, Fabrizio Ferracane, and Francesco Colella.
Lia is independent and doesn't fit in with the rigid culture of 1960's Sicily. What starts off like a fairytale romance with Lorenzo soon turns into a nightmare when he takes her with brute force. Lia is forced to marry the man who raped her to save her honor. But for one of the first times in Italian history, Lia will defy all social expectations and engage in a personal and legal battle for self-determination.
