Date: Saturday, June 8, 2024
Time: 7:15pm - 9:30pm
Step aboard Schooner Freda B for a sunset sail in celebration of the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. As we travel from Sausalito towards the Golden Gate on the hunt for views of the Pacific Ocean look for local marine mammals and seabirds along the journey. Look for signs of humanity and the natural world intersecting on the San Francisco Bay. The cost is $99 per person and tickets can be purchased in the above website link.
Did you know that some 70 percent of Earth’s surface is covered by water? Oceans are the source of the world’s rain and therefore its freshwater. Oceans generate much of Earth’s oxygen supply, absorb CO2, provide a huge quantity of food, are the highways of international trade, and are cherished for their natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
The world’s oceans are often polluted and over-exploited for profit. The coral reefs and other marine habitats are endangered.
World Oceans Day reminds us all of the importance of our oceans, and to continue to work towards diminishing threats to oceanic health, and mobilize an international movement for sustainable use of our oceans’ natural resources.
