San Rafael, CA -- There's a new way for visitors to enjoy the sights and delights of Marin County, and it's as easy as 1, 2, free.
The new Visit Marin app, just released by the Marin Convention & Visitors Bureau (MCVB), can be downloaded in seconds to IOS and Android devices. It provides instant, convenient access to attractions, events, exclusive promotions and discounts, and the opportunity to earn valuable points that can be used towards great achievements.
"It's a concierge for anything and everything in the county," MCVB President/CEO Mark Essman said. "We wanted to make it unique because Marin has so many unique places. It's point and click -- it's so user-friendly."
The app, available on iTunes and the Google play store is free and is simple to install -- all that's required is a name, email address and password. Use the code "MarinBlog" when you download the app and immediately get 1,500 points.
Launching it is like opening a treasure chest of interactive possibilities, each with points attached. Incentives include restaurant and hotel specials, store promotions, scenic ways to explore Marin, informative articles, and points of interest. It's all there, and every touch of the screen is worth points -- even while already taking advantage of a discount.
“It’s pretty cool,” said Tim Howard, general manager of Marriott International. “I think it will engage visitors in a totally new and specific way. It has some beautiful photography that makes the area look so appealing. Locals know how beautiful Marin is, but people who live elsewhere might not.”
The app was developed in just four months by Spendsetter, a mobile advocacy marketing platform that allows brands to build their own database of advocates.
The goal, according to Cliff Corr, VP of Strategic Services at Spendsetter, was to help the MCVB "learn more about Marin County's biggest fans (what drives them to visit, why they feel strongly about Marin, etc.) and allows those same fans to share easily with their own friends, family and contacts."
One of the app's special features is the ability to send a signal when a visitor is near a business that has a special promotion. It can be redeemed right away or saved for later.
"It's not only informative, it's a tool to stay interactive as users can share local interests through social media”, said Anuschka Schneider, Marketing Specialist for MCVB.
