Culinary Marin
Culinary or food tourism is "the pursuit and enjoyment of unique and memorable food and drink experiences, both far and near", says World Food Travel Association. In a corner of the world known for fine family farms, gorgeous dairy land, fresh seafood, and a dedication to culinary craftsmanship, amazing meals are everywhere to be found. Culinary Marin began in 2015 with a focus on the people behind our food, whether it is farmers and their lands or Marin Agricultural Land Trust (MALT) that protects farmland from development forever; agritourism experiences, including the farmers markets that bring accessibility so that everyone can enjoy fresh, locally-sourced food to the masses; the chefs that bring the local and organic ingredients into their kitchens to make creative and aesthetically pleasing culinary presentations to guests. Culinary Marin will also feature culinary programs and tours, food and wine partners, foodie resources and restaurants in Marin.
With a delicious mix of cheese, oysters, olive, mead, cider and other producers scattered through the county, Marin is basically a 14 billion square foot tasting room. Where else can you see sparkling mead created by honeybees down one country lane, then travel a few minutes to shuck and slurp your own freshly harvested oysters? And alongside all this farm-to-mouth sampling, you’ll find some of the best farm-to-table dining in the state. So whether you’re a long-time foodie, or just getting your first taste, Marin’s temptations await you. Come explore the beauty and the bounty of Marin County!
